Unexpected Pregnancy: What do I do?

One of the scariest moments in your life may be the realization that you could be facing an unexpected pregnancy. This can be one of the most isolating and overwhelming times in the life of a young woman, but it doesn’t have to be.

The good news is: at Care Net of Puget Sound, we can help you, and we want to help you. It’s our entire mission and purpose. We offer completely free and totally confidential services that will remind you that you are cared for and supported in an otherwise unpredictable and frightening time.

So, take a deep breath, and let us guide you through a very high-level overview of the process and your options.

Am I Pregnant?

This may seem like a silly question after you’ve seen that test clutched in your hands, but we are here to confirm either way. At-home pregnancy tests aren’t always accurate. Our medical professionals can give you a laboratory-quality urine test. And best of all, it’s free.

How Far Along Am I?

Before making a decision, find out how far along you are with a viability ultrasound. Knowing exactly how far along you are will help you narrow down your options. Read more about why viability ultrasounds are important by clicking here. You’ll want to learn how far along your pregnancy is so you can know where to go from here.

What Are My Options?

We’re here to talk through each and every one of them in a non-judgmental and supportive environment. You’ll never be judged or shamed for your decision.

Parenting, Adoption or Abortion

We know that this choice can be confusing, frightening, and heartbreaking, and it’s not always as easy as choosing a “right or wrong” answer. It’s important to partner with those that are there to help you, inform you, and listen to you, so you can make the best decision for your circumstance.

Parenting

If you decide to continue with your pregnancy, we have incredible parenting support available to guide you through the process and give you the support and education you need.

Adoption

Another option that is available to you when you’re facing an unplanned pregnancy is adoption. During your pregnancy, we refer you to agencies that can walk you through the process of finding an adoptive family for your child. We have client advocates available to explain every part of this process to you, if this is a route you are interested in exploring.

Abortion

The final option you have is abortion. The type of abortion will depend on how far along you are. We offer non-judgmental, non-graphic education on the different types of abortions so you can make an informed decision. Since we do not offer or refer for abortions, you do not need to worry about being pressured into a decision.

What is the Next Step?

Start by confirming your pregnancy by scheduling your free pregnancy consultation. We are here to ensure you do not feel alone and receive the answers you need during this process.

All our services are completely confidential and free.
